“Anointed, Inspired, Refreshing, Focused”, these are just some of the adjectives used to describe the vocal ability of Amoy Levy. As a seasoned musician, her musical influence can be found everywhere within the music community.
At the age of six, Amoy found that she was blessed with a unique voice, and hoped that one day she would be able to display her God given talent. She started in a family group called “Zion’s Youth’ where her musical development began. She then went on to be the Choir Director for the Youth Outreach Mass Choir. As the director, vocal arranger and lead vocalist, she was able to record with the choir and their debut Album, “Just Look”, was nominated for a Juno Award and Urban Music Award in 1998.
In 2001, Amoy was also involved in a compilation project along side Danny Brooks, Hiram Joseph, Ciceal Levy and produced by Michael Fonfara which also gained a Juno Nominee.
Amoy has also toured across Canada and the United States where she has performed in such shows as The Canadian Country Music Awards, YTV awards with ’98 Degrees’, The Juno Awards, Rita MacNeil Show, Anne Murray Show, The Theme Song for Party Mama’s, and performed with renowned Artists such as Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Olivia Newton John, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tom Cochrane and Gospel greats such as Toronto Mass Choir, Danny Brooks, Ken Whiteley, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, Ricky Dillard, John P. Kee and the list goes on. She also did background vocals for Canadian Idol and has recorded with producers such as Jack Lenz and David Crystal for various commercials and television appearances.
Her Debut Album is also due to be released in the Spring of 2011 featuring a wide range of musical flavours and styles.
You will find Amoy to be very energetic, high spirited, talented and definitely high quality in her delivery, no matter what the demand or role. Her vocal range consists of three octaves and her vocal ability includes styles such as traditional and contemporary Gospel, Pop, Jazz, R&B and Rock.
In 2009, and February 2010, Amoy was a featured soloist in the epic stage production, ‘The Evolution of Gospel Music’ and will reprise her role in February 2011.
A much in demand session singer for everyone, Amoy’s powerhouse soprano voice is a staple in Canada’s music industry.
